    Open Connectors in Claude or ChatGPT settings, choose "Add custom connector," and paste the address above.

    Log in and pick a workspace

    A Rootr login window opens. Choose the workspace and permission level (read, or read and write), then press Allow.

    Ask it anything

    Claude can now read your team's docs directly, and it points to which document it used.

Ask questions right away. With write permission, Claude can update docs directly too.

Why this is different

How is this different from other MCP connectors?
Most connectors hand Claude a single file or document. Rootr hands over a live, team-maintained workspace, so whatever your team has written stays visible and current with no re-uploading.
Do I need to be a developer to set this up?
No. There's no terminal or config file. You paste one URL into Claude or ChatGPT's connector settings and log in with your Rootr account.
What can Claude see about my documents?
Only what you allow. When you connect, you choose the workspace and whether Claude gets read-only or read-and-write access, and you can revoke the connection any time from Settings. Rootr doesn't grant Claude access beyond what your own account can already see.
Does this work with ChatGPT too?
Yes. The same connector URL works with ChatGPT's custom connectors. Write actions need a paid ChatGPT plan with Developer mode turned on.
Is Rootr built on Claude?
No. Rootr's built-in AI features run on our own models. Claude and ChatGPT connect to Rootr from the outside over MCP, the same way they'd connect to any other tool.
